Jenny

Prof Jenny Day is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the University of the Western Cape, with extensive expertise in higher education leadership, water ecology, and research management. She has held key academic leadership roles, including Deputy Dean of the Science Faculty and Head of the Department of Zoology at UCT.
With a long-standing career in water ecology, Prof Day has served on numerous Steering Committees for the South African Water Research Commission and was a Board Member of the Water Research Fund for Southern Africa (2017–2019). More recently, she has contributed to regional water research policy as part of the Inter-University Council for East Africa’s Lake Victoria Research Board. Her work continues to support research governance, policy development, and interdisciplinary collaboration in water science and ecological sustainability across Africa.
