Prof Walter Chikwendu Ihejirika is a Nigerian expert in development communication and media studies, with extensive experience in teaching, research, and outreach. He is a Professor in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Port Harcourt, where he has also served as Acting Head of the Department of Communication Studies and Director of Programmes for UNIQUE Radio Station (88.5 FM).
His research focuses on media, religion, and culture; communication for social development, environmental protection, and conflict management; and the role of ICT in youth culture and religious practice. He has published widely in reputable local and international journals.
Prof Ihejirika holds a PhD in Sociology of Communication from the Pontifical Gregorian University and a Master’s in Pedagogy & Communication from the Salesian University, both in Rome. He speaks English and Italian fluently, with a strong knowledge of French, in addition to his native Igbo.
