Nelson

Prof Nelson Ijumba is a higher education and research leader with extensive experience in university administration, engineering, and technology. He is currently the Research and Innovation Programme Manager at Coventry University’s Africa Hub in Kigali, Rwanda.
Previously, he served as Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Research, and Innovation at the University of Rwanda, where he was based at the African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACEESD). He also held key leadership roles at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, including Faculty Dean, Department Director, and project lead for major research initiatives.
An Honorary Professor of Electrical Engineering, Prof Ijumba has supervised numerous master’s and PhD students, contributing to capacity building in research and innovation. He continues to support academic excellence through mentorship, project leadership, and research development across Africa
