Sunungurai

Dr Sunungurai Dominica Chingarande is a higher education and gender specialist with over 20 years of experience in research, evaluations, and gender policy development. She is the Vice Chancellor of the Women’s University in Africa and a Visiting Research Associate at the University of Zimbabwe.
Dr Chingarande is highly skilled in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, needs assessments, and the design of gender analysis tools. Her work supports the integration of gender-sensitive approaches in education, research, and development projects. She co-authored the UNCT Zimbabwe Performance Indicators for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment and has extensive experience in gender audits, policy development, and strategy formulation.
She holds a PhD in Sociology, an MSc in Sociology and Social Anthropology, and a BSc (Hons) in Sociology. Her expertise spans baseline surveys, mid-term and end-of-term evaluations, and gender mainstreaming in development programmes across Zimbabwe and the region.
