Ana Werkstetter Caravaca is a Costa Rican-German researcher specialising in gender, diversity, inclusion, and global education policy. She is a research fellow at SCRIPTS – Cluster of Excellence at Freie Universität Berlin, where she examines UNESCO’s Futures of Education and the OECD’s Future of Education and Skills 2030 initiatives, with a focus on stakeholder inclusion and Southern perspectives.
Her PhD research critically analyses the OECD’s role in global education policy, particularly its interactions with Global South members, using case studies from Chile and Mexico. She has extensive experience in gender mainstreaming in conflict resolution, higher education, and environmental conservation, alongside evaluation projects in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa.
A dedicated advocate for social justice, Ana has supported refugee and migrant women and served as Executive Director of the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (Germany). She holds a Master’s in Global Studies from Humboldt University and a Bachelor’s in Cultural Studies from Potsdam University. Fluent in English, Spanish, German, Portuguese, and French, she brings a multilingual and interdisciplinary approach to her work.
