Dr George Mukundi Wachira

Dr. George Mukundi Wachira is Kenyan-born and was educated in Kenya, South Africa and the US. He is the CEO of the Maendeleo Group and Adjunct Professor of Public Law at the University of Cape Town. He is also an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and Pan-African human rights lawyer. He was the founding head of the African Governance Architecture (AGA) Secretariat, Department of Political Affairs, African Union (AU) Commission (2012-16). He has led and coordinated multi-country teams in strategy development, future scenarios mapping, knowledge and data generation, project evaluation and impact assessment, policy analysis, dissemination and implementation at continental and national levels. George has over 15 years experience and expertise in the public sector and multilateral policy development, implementation, negotiation and team leadership, with in-country experiences in Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Egypt, Uganda, Ethiopia, Senegal, Nigeria and the Gambia.
